Het belang van communicatie voor het voeren van monetair beleid

Communicatie is de afgelopen vijftien jaar steeds belangrijker geworden voor het voeren van monetair beleid. In dit artikel bespreek ik om te beginnen twee factoren die hieraan hebben bijgedragen. Vervolgens schets ik in grote lijnen hoe centrale banken gebruik maken van communicatie en welke overwegingen hierbij een rol spelen. Tot slot ga ik aan de hand van de recente academische literatuur na in hoeverre communicatie daadwerkelijk heeft bijgedragen aan de effectiviteit van monetair beleid.
