Indicatiestelling binnen de collectieve zorgverzekering: een middel om kosten te beheersen?

De indicatiestelling is een belangrijk moment in het zorgproces waarop wordt vastgesteld welke zorg nodig is. We onderscheiden twee modaliteiten van indicatiestelling. Bij decentrale indicatiestelling is de zorgaanbieder, die ook behandelaar kan zijn, de indicatiesteller. Bij centrale indicatiestelling wordt de indicatie door een onafhankelijk indicatiesteller afgegeven die op afstand is van de zorgaanbieder. In dit artikel adresseren we vanuit een principaal-agentinvalshoek twee vragen: (i) welke factoren beïnvloeden de uitkomst van het proces van centrale en decentrale indicatiestelling? en (ii) wat zijn de kansen en risico's van de huidige indicatiestelling voor kostenbesparingen?
